The transport service can be used by people with disabilities and/or mobility issues who are Members  of Galway Centre for Independent Living Transport Club.

How does a person arrange transport?

Transport can be booked by calling the Galway Centre for Independent Living Transport Mobile or transport@gcil.ie

What areas does the Galway Centre for Independent Living Transport cover?

All areas of Galway city and County are covered. Requests for transport outside of the County will be provided depending on availability.

Does the person with a disability have to be accompanied by another person?

This depends on the needs of the service user.

How do I apply for a Personal Assistant Service?

Galway Centre for Independent Living will send you an application form, once this form is completed and returned, it will be forwarded to the HSE Services to apply for funding for a Personal Assistant Service. You will then be entered onto the HSE wait list for a service.

What criteria are necessary to qualify for a Personal Assistant Service or to go on the HSE Disability wait list for a Personal Assistant Service?

Applicants must have either a physical and/or sensory disability and be aged between 18 and 65 (applicants older than 65 must apply for Home Help Services directly through the Home Help Department in the HSE).

How long is the wait list?

The HSE will prioritise applicants according to their needs identified on the application form.
