McCarthy Report cuts
Dear Friends & Colleagues,
Galway City Partnership has come together with Action for Equality Galway, Galway Volunteer Centre, Galway City Community Forum and Ballybane Community Forum to organise a local campaign to highlight the detrimental effect the proposed McCarthy Report cuts will have on communities and community services if they are implemented.
As a local community group we are seeking your support on 2 levels:
- We are organising a public meeting (letter attached) next Thursday 8th October in the Galway Bay Hotel at 7.30pm. A number of speakers are lined up to speak and it is vital that as many people as possible attend on the night. We would ask that you and members of your group attend.
- We are asking groups to send a letter to their local councillors and TDs. We are attaching a generic letter template for you to use. We ask you add to this letter in the blank space on page 2 outlining the supports your group has received over the years from Galway City Partnership and the effect that the withdrawal of supports would have on you / your group.
We are also attaching a short outline on the impact for groups and individuals if the Galway City Partnership budget is slashed and a list of local councillors and TDs for you to write to.
Your support is needed and we sincerely ask you to take the time to print off and post or email the letter to local representatives.
If you require any further information, please contact me in the Partnership (091 – 773466)
Thank you.
Kind Regards
Charlie Currie
